Rifled octagonal steel barrel with sights mounted on top flat. Bar hammer lock stamped "S. JACKSON/PADMYERA N.Y./WARRANTED" and engraved with scrolls, hammer face also decorated with scrolls. Brass buttplate, triggerguard, and ramrod ferrules. Silver star inlaid on right side and missing same star on left side. Plain cherry stock of New England form with an identical relief cheekpiece on both sides of buttstock. Complete with brass-tipped rope burn-decorated ramrod. Good condition, barrel has been cleaned and retains a spotted and freckled patina. Lock retains a spotted brown and grey patina with some corrosion around markings, hammer does not hold back when cocked, but spring is strong. Brass retains a mellow patina and stock is very good, as refinished, barrel wedge closest to muzzle is absent. A very nice and unusual ambidextrous bar hammer rifle!
