Manufactured by Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Co. for commercial sales in Germany and elsewhere. This is known as the 1906 commercial safety marked. Features include; round barrel with dovetailed inverted V front sight, V notch rear sight on rear link, thumb safety marked "Gesichert" in the lower position, extractor marked "Geladen" on left side, center toggle link marked "DWM" in script. Wide grip safety without a stock lug. Gun retains approximately 92% of the non-original applied rust blue finish with strawed small parts. Checkered walnut grips show some wear. Nickel magazine with blank Wood bottom. According to the book Lugers at Random on page 94. It was a left over Navy frame that had not been altered. Only about 750 of these were produced. This one has a German retailer mark on the right side of the frame "GENSCHOW&CO. BERLIN". Geco is a registered trade name of Genschow. Currently a manufacturer of ammunition. It also has a six inch pencil barrel that was probably added at the retailer. A hard gun to find in any condition. Comes in a modern Navy style holster with loading tool.
