John Martz was a skilled craftsman in Northern California That took regular Lugers and turned them into something special. Here we have a superb example of one of his .45 ACP Lugers. It was made from a 1920 commercial Luger. The whole grip frame has been reworked to accept a custom made .45 ACP magazine. A new manufactured barrel has been installed. The toggle assembly and receiver are a mixture of original parts and new manufactured. The fit and finish is superb compared to any custom gun built today. Claro walnut grips are finely checkered. Magazine bottom has his initials JVM in an oval. Left side of frame has his patent mark of MSTR for patent No. US3956967A "Martz Safe Toggle Release". Gun retains 99% of the deep rust blue and strawed small parts that John applied. Fire blue grip screws. Comes in a contemporary case with a box of ammo, a spare magazine and loading tool. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
