Left side of barrel is engraved "THE SOURDOUGH WILDERNESS RIFLE" along with "7MM" caliber stamp. The custom serial number is 001. The basis for this rifle was your standard Model 70 action that was manufactured in 1950. All metalsmithing was done by Paul Dressel, ACGG of Yakima, Washington. The featherweight contoured barrel was made by Shilen. Features a Swift-Blackburn straddle floorplate assembly, a NECG front ramp with sourdough front sight, Talley-Brockman quick detachable scope bases with Brockman pop-up aperture rear sight, Model 70 Super Grade swivel bases, and a McFarland solid steel smooth buttplate. The stock crafted by the Southwest Rifle & Ammunition Company using Turkish triple 'A' walnut, hand rubbed London-style oil finish and 24 lines per inch checkering that was designed and built by Buzz Fletcher. Rifle has a hot blue finish applied by Craft-Guard in Montezuma, Iowa; Dennis McDonald of Peosta, Iowa engraved the lettering. The rifle is in as new condition inside and out. The design work and checkering on the stock is amazing. Has a straight comb, double stock bolt reinforcement, no provision for rear sight. Simply a breath-taking pre-64 Model 70. Includes document on all work performed.
