Manufactured 1863 to 1875 and was a standard military issue firearm during the Civil War. Features full octagon barrel, blued finish, sig shot, single action, brass trigger guard and walnut grips. Left grip panel is inspector cartouche in rectangle "BH" for Benjamin Hannis, major inspector on all U.S. New Model Armies. The following military inspector marks can be found: "L" on left side of barrel, "R" on left side of loading lever and frame, "RH" on cylinder, "W" on left side of rear frame, "L" on trigger guard, "L" and "W" on bottom of grip panels, "H" on right side of frame and barrel. This Civil War gun is in beautiful condition, retaining 70% original factory blue, starting to thin with some minor age freckling. Grips are near mint. Action indexes and locks up like new with a strong, clean rifled bore. Definitely one of the better examples. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection. CORRECTION: Photos updated.
