20th century, American. 1) A carving of a nude woman caressing a horse on rocky terrane with chipped carved background. Back of panel with partially illegible inscription, possibly "Max Schmidiamer (1901 - 1958)". 20-1/2" x 13-1/2". 2) A carving on board of two nude bathing women posed amidst Cattails. 23-1/2" x 14". Both are very good with original untouched surface. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT.
