Damascus barrels are marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." on concave rib with doll's head extension. Top lever action with rebounding bar locks having tall serpentine hammers is engraved with 60% coverage small scroll surrounding scenes of hunting dogs on lockplates; pointing pointer on left with setter on right. "COLT" is under each hammer. Trigger guard bow has scene of flying duck. Serial number is on tang. Marbled and stump figured European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over original buttplate with rampant colt logo. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant German silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter forend with Schnabeled forend tip has Colt's rendition of a Deeley release. Fair to good. All metal parts cleaned to silver gray with areas of fairly deep pitting on barrels. Action is lightly pitted, engraving remains clear. Stocks retain most of an old refinish, checkering considerably worn. Bores are very good to fine with scattered light pitting, lightly frosted. Action is slightly loose, but tight with forend installed. Locks are good. A neat old high grade Colt.
