Circa 1910, broadly figured Damascus barrels are not maker marked and have broad matted game rib. Serial number and grade are on flats. Case hardened regular weight action has patent dates, serial number and grade on water table, and features automatic safety, early type bushed strikers, and double triggers. 0 grade guns were listed as having line border engraving; this gun is likely a transition to the field grade and is unengraved. "L.C.SMITH" is on each lockplate. Trigger guard is blued. Tang is secured by two screws. Lightly figured American walnut round knob semi-pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over ribbed composition buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend with inset ebony tip has J-spring release. Excellent condition. Barrels retains over 90% bold Damascus pattern with two spots cleaned to silver, on breech ends. Action retains over 90% original color and a considerable amount of original varnish. Lock plates retain nearly all of their color. Right lock has some loss from fading where lacquer is worn through. Trigger guard retains most of its original blue with a rubbed area on top of bow. Stocks retain nearly all of their original varnish with numerous light marks. Checkering is very lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent.
