Framed Photo of Nimitz signing the instrument of Japan's surrender in 1945. In the lower margin, inscribed and signed: "To Comdr William S. Stuka, USNR ret - with best wishes and warm regards. C. W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, US Navy". 9" by 10-3/4" overall, image 6-1/4" by 8-5/8", matte black and white. There is also a facsimile signature of Nimitz in the picture. Shown aboard the Battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay, September 2, 1945, signing the instrument of Japanese surrender. Behind the seated Nimitz stand General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, Admiral William F. Halsey, and Rear Admiral Forrest Sherman. CONDITION: In very good condition with slight fading to the inscription. From the Ray Bentley collection.
