Signature and concluding portion of a vellum military commission signed by President Theodore Roosevelt. Measuring 8-1/2" by 16", dated November 17, 1903, and countersigned by Secretary of War Elihu Root. The document bears the blue paper War Office seal in the lower left corner, and, in the lower center portion, an elaborate engraved vignette showing flags, a cannon, and other military motifs. In a frame measuring 16" by 28" and mounted with a portrait image of Roosevelt. CONDITION: In excellent condition with a bright signature. From the Ray Bentley collection.
