Lot contains: A) Oil painted photograph of Captain Cecil Shepherd, work size 6" by 8" (sight) within an ornate gold-leaf frame which measures 11-1/4" by 13-1/2" which itself is within a rosewood frame measuring 13-1/2" by 15-1/2". The outer frame is velvet backed and displays a paper label identifying the subject as "Captain Cecil J. Shepherd" and the studio as "Messrs. Maull & Co 187A, Piccadilly, W. London". B) Colored photograph on milk glass plate which measures 6-1/2" by 8-1/2" of a mounted 16th Lancer officer. Old note on the reverse identifies the subject as "Colonel Napeleon Bisder Major, assistant surgeon to the 16th Lancers". Mounted in worn velvet frame. CONDITION: Both are in excellent. From the Ray Bentley collection.
