Referred to as the Model 1892 New Army & Navy Series, this revolver was manufactured 1895. Features six shot, double action, high polish blued finish and smooth walnut grips. Inspector mark "RAC" can be found on left side of frame for Renaldo Carr; sub-inspector stamp "KK" under barrel. Back of cylinder is stamped "RAC" twice. Bottom of left grip panel is stamped "KSM" for Kelly S. Morse; 1878 directly lists him as an employee of the U.S. Armory in the same rooming house as Renaldo Carr in a 1900 census. He inspected the Smith & Wesson Model 1899 and the Colt Model 1903, which would indicate these grips were replaced sometime after manufacture. Gun retains approximately 85% of the original Colt high polish blue with fire blue on sides of trigger and back of hammer. Rear grip strap is basically grey mixed with blue patina. Butt is stamped "US ARMY MODEL 1894". These early models saw heavy use in the Philippines and Cuba during the Spanish American War. Locks up and indexes like new. Fine bore. Comes in a generic maroon box and Railway Express shipping box but there is no way to prove these boxes comes with this gun.
