In essence this is a Colt Second Model Deringer with a fire blued barrel, silver plated frame and bird's head checkered walnut grips. These were manufactured by Colt from 1870 to 1890 with approximately 9,000 manufactured. This pistol remains in beautiful condition, retaining most of the silver, near mint grips and 75% original high polish blue finish. Colt's name is missing off the top, simply has the cross "NO. 2" and another cross. This design was also made by several other companies so we do not know why Colt's name is missing. Pistol is original with no signs of "COLT" having been removed and is in near mint condition. Fine bore and action. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
