All of the pertinent information on this revolver can be found in "A Study of Colt Conversions" by McDowell starting on page 351. This has the newly made barrel with no plug, high polished blue finish that remains at approximately 85-90% with usual dents near wedge. The rebated cylinder shows a nearly perfect, 100% stagecoach scene with fire blue in the rebated area but flaked on cylinder. Frame retains nearly all of its original case colors, most quite bright. Trigger guard retains approximately 50% of the period plating with traces on backstrap. Case colors on hammer are readily evident. All serial numbers are matching except wedge is not numbered. The one piece varnished walnut grips are excellent fit precisely. Indexes and locks up like new. Strong, clean rifled bore. A really nice, exceptional high condition Colt so-called conversion. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
