Standard Colt mid-war production U.S. Army .45. Left side of slide has patent dates. Top of slide is stamped with proof "P". Right side of slide is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 US ARMY". Ordnance wheel on right rear frame. Left side of frame is stamped with inspector "GHD" for Guy Dewey. Proof "P" next to magazine release. Other features include short checkered wide-spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, checkered arched mainspring housing with loop, short checkered trigger, Keyes style brown composition grips. Later replacement magazine. Blued barrel is stamped "COLT 45 AUTO" with proof "P" on left lug. Rear sight has flat top with beveled corners. Pistol retains nearly all of the war-time applied dark parkerized finish. Strong, clean bore. Fine example of an original mid-war Colt .45.
