This is a Model 39 with early steel frame and steel slide. It was the first commercial 9mm double semi-automatic made in the U.S. with only 927 manufactured in the mid-1950's. They feature and eight shot single stack magazine, walnut stocks, blued finish, adjustable rear sight, double action, smooth grip strap. One of the more difficult Smith & Wesson automatics to obtain. This pistol is in as new condition inside and out in the original two piece blued box numbered to gun with extra magazine, cleaning kit and paperwork. Impossible to improve. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection. CORRECTION: Factory Letter states serial No. 60335 shipped August 21, 1964 to Walter Lookenbaugh, California with blued finish and steel frame.
