Extremely Rare Tiffany & Co. Black Onyx & Pearl Lapel Watch with 18K yellow gold bezels, links, hinge and pin with original Tiffany & Co. fitted box. Circa 1878. Outer gold bezel is set with seed pearls. Case measures 37mm across, and is 4-1/2" in length. One pearl is missing at the 10 position. Hairline crack to onyx at link/hinge, and on back side of case near the crown. Hinged crystal bezel opens to set hands. Key set. Exhibition back. Fine Swiss mechanical wind movement, unsigned. Black hour hand and enamel dial with white Roman numerals and gold minute hand. Running. Original Tiffany & Co. custom fitted box reads: “Tiffany & Co., New York, Ave. De L’Opera 36 Bis, Paris, Grand Prix, Exposition Universelle, 1878”. Hinge and outer skin of box are worn. Inside of box is in great original condition.
