Comprising: A) Silver Mounted Flintlock Officer's Pistol by Wilson. Three-stage smoothbore steel screw-barrel with cannon muzzle, top of breech engraved with designs and "LONDON". English view and proof marks on left side along with "RW" for Richard Wilson. Early rounded lockplate with engraved scrolls and inscribed "Wilson" in center. Sterling silver grotesque mask on pommel, silver sideplate and wrist escutcheon, engraved steel triggerguard. Walnut half-stock with relief-carved panels around lock and sideplate, as well as an acanthus leaf carved around the barrel tang. Steel components retain a dark brown patina with some minor freckling and marks from use, excellent markings. Barrel still screws off. Silver retains a mellow patina with darker patina on protected areas. Stock has some scattered marks from use and a small piece replaced in front of lockplate. B) English Silver-Mounted Officer's Pistol by Griffin & Tow. Round swamped barrel with top flat near breech engraved with borders and "GRIFFIN & TOW LONDON", marked on left side of breech with London view and proof marks as well as "IG" for Joseph Griffin. Rounded lockplate with tooled borders and marked "GRIFFIN/& TOW" in center. Hallmarked sterling silver grotesque mask buttcap and fine vacant silver wrist escutcheon with helmet, cannon, and sword. Engraved steel triggerguard with acorn finial, steel ramrod ferrules. Walnut stock with finely carved relief shell around barrel tang and complete with original wooden ramrod with steel cap. Very good condition, barrel retains a light grey spotted patina. Lock retains an even grey patina, functions well. Markings excellent. Silver retains a mellow patina, unpolished. Steel furniture retains a freckled grey patina. Stock very good with some scattered marks from use and some areas of dark oil staining. A very nice pistol by a very prestigious maker!
