Manufactured 1903. This first year production Pocket Hammer is beautifully engraved by Cuno Helfricht with his characteristic beautifully rendered shell as extreme muzzle end of slide. The frame is richly decorated with perfectly cut scrolls. Slide retains nearly all its high polish Colt factory bluing with some thinning at high points. Frame retains nearly all its original Colt factory bluing; trigger still retains much bright nitre blue. Original magazine with "PAT. SEPT. 9, 1884" on floor plate. Thick ivory grips appear to be factory original but no letter to confirm. There were fewer than 15 factory engraved specimens of this limited production Colt automatic pistol. Serial No. 18377 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the scarcest and most desirable of all engraved Colt automatic pistols. CORRECTION: Barrel length corrected to 4-1/2".
