The Clarence Dunbar cased factory engraved and gold inlaid Colt Police Positive revolver. One of the most renowned icons of Colt Double Action collecting, this was originally in the collection of the renowned David S. Woloch. Featured in the 1981 Christie's Colt sale, as Lot 50, this magnificent revolver is fully documented in the Colt ledgers, as engraved Grade 2.5 engraving with blued finish and pearl grips. According to R. L. Wilson, fewer than 7 engraved and gold inlaid Police Positives exist and those with factory casings are even rarer. Revolver retains nearly 100% original bright blue with bright polish on hammer. Medallion pearl grips are mint. Hardening color appears on ejector rod. Original Colt case is scuffed. The elaborate silver presentation plaque to Mr. Dunbar is in good condition. Interior of case is good; original cleaning rod is present. Clarence Dunbar founded the armored car service of Mercer & Dunbar. It would be impossible to improve upon this gold inlaid Colt. CORRECTION: Barrel length corrected to 4".
