The barrel and cylinder are finished in factory blue while the frame, hammer, trigger guard and lever are factory case colored with fire blued screws and one piece walnut grips. About 23,000 of these fine revolvers were made between 1863 and 1865, the majority of which were purchased by the United States Government and will be found with military cartouche. This was probably an experimental. There are no Starr markings anywhere on this revolver. Serial number can be found stamped on frame and cylinder. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new and probably unfired. Barrel retains 90% original factory blue some patina showing through the blue finish. Rammer retains bright case colors on pivot with handle a silver-grey patina. Frame and hammer retain 90% of their brilliant original case colors with strong original lacquer. Cylinder appears to be unfired retains about 95% original factory blue with front-back edge wear and a drag line. Nipples appear unfired. Grip has a replaced chip in front toe with a few dings on bottom; retains virtually all of its original oil finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. A unique, one-of-a-kind Civil War era Starr.
