Slightly curved steel blade with single shallow fuller on each side. Blade stamped "U.S.N./ DR/ 1862". Cast brass hilt with riveted sheet brass guard with pierced "U.S.N." and engraved with C scrolls above and below. These modifications were done by Bannerman's. The back of the quillon is stamped "12 M / 574". Black leather wrapped grip decorated with twisted brass wire. Complete with red leather washer at ricasso. CONDITION: Very good. Blade has been cleaned and retains a bright surface with some scattered dark spots. Hilt retains a pleasing, mellow patina with a few scattered marks from use. Grip very good with some minor scuffing, which has been touched up. From the Ray Bentley collection.
