These are marked on underside of barrel "LF" possibly for Le Faucheux. has back action locks and microgroove rifling. A most attractive pair of French dueling pistols, circa 1850, with case hardened back action locks, sparsely engraved. Hammer engraved en suite. Spurred case hardened trigger guard and case hardened buttcap. The barrels of Turkish Damascus signed in gold "Damas Turc A Rubans". The figured walnut full stocks with fine border checkering, ebony band around butt, and well carved wolf's head serves as the forend. CONDITION: The locks retain nearly all of the vibrant case hardening, actions are excellent. Trigger guard retains some traces of casehardening. Buttcap retains nearly all their original case hardening. Breeches retains most of their colored case hardening and retain some of their original Damascus finish, but have been cleaned. Figured stocks are pristine with only the most minor storage dents. Set triggers function perfectly. Guns are cased in an early refitted English mahogany case with split ring carrying handle and some accessories. Case was refitted specifically for these pistols and may be considered the original. A very attractive, fine condition pair of dueling pistols.
