Standard production World War II Steyr made BNZ 42 code 98k Mauser rifle. Some parts have been renumbered to match. Cutout on the left side of the stock for the ZF.41 scope mount appears to be correct. The mounting bracket on the left side of the rear sight collar is held on with two screws, certainly not original. "duv" marked mount appears original, as does the "dow/ +/ ZF40 41/1" marked scope. Post-war Israeli leather sling. Cupped buttplate. Laminated stock. "GERMANY" mark appears on the triggerguard assembly. CONDITION: Good as assembled. All markings are clear. Retains a pleasing patina mixed with some original and restored finishes. Some light pitting in areas. Wood is good, appears to have been lightly refinished at some time as the stock markings are weak. Bore is very good with strong rifling and areas of very minor pitting. Fine mechanical function. Optics are slightly hazy.
