In the early days of obtaining a patent, the patent application required a model of the claimed patent. This locomotive was patented on October 29, 1867. This is the original patent model for this patent that was submitted to the Patent Office with the application. The tag is the original Patent Office tag. This is a very interesting bit of technology from the industrialization era.
