Weeden no. 1 with early swing out firebox door and in its original box. This is the engine that started it all for Weeden. The engine was designed at the request of “Youth’s Companion” Publishers. The magazine gave prizes for obtaining new subscriptions to the magazine. The engine was patented May 19, 1885. While no. 1 engines are plentiful, it is very rare to find an original swing door No. 1 and especially rare to find it in its original wood box. Note the label on the box. The weighted safety valve is missing.

Item Dimensions: 7 - 1/2" x 4". Base: 3 - 1/2".
