Steam Indicator by Schaeffer & Budenberg Works of Brooklyn, New York. When operating a real and full sized steam engine, it was important to have the steam cut off at a stage in the steam chest that allowed the steam to continue to expand without loosing any power. This indicator was mounted on the engine to time the operation of the stem chest. A lead pencil was attached to the indicator to draw a pattern which could be used by the engineer to properly set the valve gear for the most efficient running of the engine. Complete.
Condition: (Very Good).
Item Dimensions: 2" x 8".
