Circa 1830 to 1840. OL: 58 - 1/4". BL: 42 - 1/2". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. Original. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly Maple. Incise carving. One silver inlay. This Kentucky rifle, stamped "Dreppard Lancaster" on the top barrel flat, also has the name stamped on its percussion lock. This rifle has a very pleasing, engraved patchbox with unique C-scrolled sideplates, an elongated toe-plate, wrist checkering (basket weave) and a very elaborate sea-serpent incised carving pattern behind and beneath the cheek piece. The upper twenty-four inches of the forestock have been restored; however, the barrel is fully intact.
