These CDVs, of three orphans, were found in the hand of a dying soldier at the battle of Gettysburg. CDV and story were used to raise funds for the Soldier's orphans. By Wenderoth & Taylor in Philadelphia, PA, later CDV with orphans ID'd on front. "Frank, Frederick and Alice". Story of the children of the battlefield. CDV is a copy of a tintype found in the hand of Sergeant Humiston of the 154th NY Volunteers. Proceeds to benefit the National Sabbath School and Asylum for Dependent Orphans of Soldiers. Image sales protected. J.F. Bourns September 1865.
