Eugene Beggs patented his steam train on September 19, 1871. This was very early for live steam toys to be made in America. This train includes the 2-4-0 locomotive with a Postal Car and a Passenger Car. This set was advertised as a “Steam Train No. 2” in 1901. The car bodies are made of heavy cardboard with tin roofs. This material accounts for the low survival rate of these cars. Some paint loss to the firebox and tender, as well as some scratching of the paint on the roofs of the cars.
Condition: (Very Good).
