Circa 1840 to 1860. OL: 49". BL: 33". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: 4-piece. S: Curly maple. Signed. School: Western Pennsylvania. 5 silver inlays. This Bench Rifle has an illegible signature; however the elaborately engraved patchbox with its multiple piercings indicate Western Pennsylvania manufacturer. However, the exceptional patchbox is a re-cycled one which can be seen on close inspection. Some of the scalloped silver inlays are replaced, but otherwise this bench rifle appears to be intact overall.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
