OL: 48 - 1/2". BL: 31 - 1/2". TB: Round. LM: Percussion. PB: Oval. S: Plain maple. 1 silver inlay. This Kentucky rifle is quite unique having two barrels, one small bore and one large bore. In order to reduce weight, the barrels are made in the round and not octagonal. However, the most unique feature is the single lock featuring two “mule-ear” hammers, one for each of the two barrels. Especially intriguing is that this lock is a backaction lock. The walnut stock has the oval “toilet seat” patchbox and the wrist is finely checkered and a brass deer inlay is on the cheekside of the stock. These type of rifles are associated with ones made in the Lycoming County area or the area of Lock Haven. Harder made a number of over and under (double) rifles.
