Circa 1850 to 1870. OL: 54 - 3/4". BL: 40". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: None. S: Walnut. Maker: J. Ferree. At first glance, this half-stock rifle with a re-cylced “J. Ferree” barrel looks very common. However, the mechanism (percussion) is extremely unique having a hammer with two methods of firing two shots consecutively from a single barrel (or perhaps simultaneously). The walnut stock is plain, but the double-set triggers and this very unique firing system is quite unique, especially for a rifle made late in the period. Collectors who have an interest in curiosities will surely be taken with this piece.
KENTUCKY RIFLE.
