Circa 1840 to 1850. OL: 31 - 1/2". BL: 16 - 1/2". TB: Octagonal. LM: Percussion. PB: None. S: Curly maple. Maker: J. Paulus. This curly maple half-stock was shortened perhaps to fit into a “saddle boot” or was a “home-defense” weapon. Its double-set triggers and rifling indicate this gun was originally made for a serious shooter. The signed barrel “J. Paulus” remains unknown currently to his cataloguer.
