Germany, Ca. 1900. Perfect bisque socket head incised 4000 S PB H in Star. This is a rare character-type doll head made by the Schoenau & Hoffmeister porcelain factory. Lovely bisque and very appealing face with large blue sleeping eyes, multistroked eyebrows, painted upper and lower eyelashes, open mouth with upper teeth, original brown mohair wig with bangs. Excellent jointed composition body. Lovely original blue cotton dress with satin ribbon and lace trim, original shift, half slip and pantaloons with matching tucks and lace, black openwork socks and black oil cloth shoes. Original box (some deterioration to box lid) with The Genuine Walkure Doll label indicates the head was made by Schoenau & Hoffmeister for the Kley & Hahn doll factory which made the completed doll. Additional articles of clothing include cotton nightgown, half slip and panties and a wool half slip. Very choice item, seldom are dolls of this age and quality found in such untouched original condition.
