This 1816 US Springfield musket has been arsenal-converted and the lock has crisp markings "1836 Springfield" and "US" over an "Eagle". The barrel is 42 - 1/2" long as is dated "1837" with good proof marks. The walnut stock is very good and sharp showing minimal usage. The inspectors cartouches are also crisp. All metal is smooth, polished bright and the stock is oil finished and has had its original varnish removed.
