RARE REMINGTON WHITMORE GRADE 5 HAMMER GUN.REMINGTONWHITMORE GR. 5180110 Ga10 Ga. 28" Damascus bbls. 2-3/4" chambers. Choked: IMP CYL/IMP CYL. Damascus top rib with steel front bead, marked "E REMINGTON & SONS ILION NY". Double triggers, extractors, no safety. Beautiful Creedmore gripped buttstock with 13-15/16" LOP over beautiful checkered buttplate with engraved screw heads. Creedmore grip with horn inlay. Splinter forend with wedge fastener with horn tip, checkered in 4-point checkering pattern. Buttstock checkered in 3-point pattern. Receiver finely engraved, left side with deer and scroll engraving, right side with bedded deer in field scene and scroll engraving. Frame and trigger guard are also nicely scroll engraved with some floral pattern and scallops in borders. Top lever is beautifully scroll engraved, as are all screw heads. This exact gun featured in Volume 13, issue 2, of The Double Gun Journal, page 135-140 in an article titled "Remington Model 1875, Grade 5" written and photographed by late Remington expert Charles Semmer. Weight: 8 lb 2 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. "Andy" Anderson. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain most of a restored finish by Keith Kearcher. Receiver retains approx 35-40% orig case color, stronger on right, particularly vivid on top lever, toning on bottom and trigger guard. Stock are excellent and retain 95% factory hand rubbed varnish. Checkering is sharp with various minor handling marks. Mechanics are good. Bores are very good with scattered minor pits. 49531-66 JSL127 (2,500-4,500)
