EXTREMELY REMINGTON 1889 GRADE 7 HAMMER GUN.REMINGTON1889 GR. 76148812 Ga12 Ga. 30" bbls. 2-5/8" chambers. Choked: MOD/MOD. Full length matted rib with steel front bead with doll''s head extension, marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION NY USA". Double triggers, extractors, no safety. Capped full pistol grip buttstock with 13-9/16" LOP over Remington Arms Co monogrammed and checkered butt. Buttstock is beautiful high contrast stump walnut with great grain and fiddle back. Extremely finely checkered with 4-point checkering on sides and an extremely fine (32 lines per inch?) panel on top of grip and an arrow carved at back of lockplates. Receiver is finely engraved with 2 birds in woods scene on left lock surrounded by light scroll and border engraving, 2 woodcock on right, also surrounded by some scroll and border engraving. Hammers are lightly engraved. Bottom of frame lightly scroll and border engraved. Trigger guard bow with Setter and dead bird in his mouth in game scene surrounded by scroll. Splinter forearm with Deeley release and two level horn teardrop tip, is extremely finely checkered, near full coverage, with a panel of 32 LPI checkering near frame with perfectly cut ribbon border. Weight: 7 lb 9 oz. PROVENANCE: The Estate of B.E. "Andy" Anderson. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain 75% toning Damascus pattern with minor staining and handling marks. Receiver retains 25-35% orig case color, though mostly toned gray, however bold and vivid under top lever and under trigger guard. Buttstock and forend are very good and retain 95% hand rubbed finish, checkering is crisp with light wear.
