FN BROWNING SIDEPLATED "EXHIBITION" CUSTOM SHOP SUPERPOSED WITH EXCEPTIONAL ENGRAVING AND GOLD INLAY BY JAQUEZ LODEWYC WITH CASE. FN OU EXHIBITION 92663 12 GA MODERN Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4” Chambers. 28" Bbls are marked for mod and full. Bbls have medium, ventilated rib with two silver beads. They are engraved "Fabrique Nationale Herstal" on left side. Coin finished, nicely filed, Browning OU action with ornamental sideplates, has sgl selective trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage of exceptionally fine, Baroque style, large, open, shaded acanthus and scroll with floral, foliate, and cornucopia highlights. This unusual combination is background to semi-relief gold inlaid dogs, and birds which appear to fly over and through foliage; a pointer points two rising ducks on left lockplate with pigeon at forward part of action. Setter points a pair of flushing pheasant on right, with another pigeon at front of action. A setter is on point on bottom of action. This fine work is signed by "J. Lodewyc" under top lever. Finely marbled and well figured European walnut long tang flat knob buttstock measures 14” over checkered wood butt. Modified point pattern checkering at grip has small beaded border. Removable 1-pc forend is of schnabeled "superlight" type. Bore diameter: top -.727, bottom -.723. Bore restrictions: top: .041 (full), bottom: .018 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Weight: 7 lbs 13 oz. LOP: 14". Mottled brown Browning Hartman case is lined in off white faux fleece with 2 keys and Naugahyde tag inside. PROVENANCE: Rod Fuller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Excellent, essentially as new, appears unfired since proof with only a few light handling marks on wood and metal. Mechanically crisp.
