LATE PRODUCTION .458 MAG. OLYMPIAN GRADE FN BROWNING HIGH POWER BIG GAME RIFLE ENGRAVED BY L. LAMBERT WITH ORIGINAL BOX. BROWNING OLYMPIAN 66810L75 .458 MAG MODERN Cal. .458 Win Mag. 24" Medium weight round bbl fitted with late flip-up rear sight is marked with Browning Arms Co Utah and Montreal addresses, and "MADE IN BELGIUM" on left side, and with caliber and SN on right. There are 2" triangles of scrolled acanthus engraving at sides of breech end. Coin finished Mauser action with short extractor has gold-plated trigger. Action is engraved with well cut, shaded, acanthus scroll, as background to game scenes appropriate to caliber; a trumpeting elephant is on left side of receiver ring, and a trotting rhino is on right. Floorplate depicts a cape buffalo running through clearing with tree in background, and a portrait of a lion is on trigger guard bow. Elephant and cape buffalo scenes are signed by "L. Lambert", and initials "RD" (Rene Dewil) are at bottom of lion portrait. Broadly banded and fiddle figured claro walnut rosewood capped pistol grip stock is fitted with Browning open-sided white line pad. Stock features Monte Carlo comb with swept right hand cheekpiece, two recoil bolts, and rosewood forend tip with white line spacer. Matching flared grip cap has inset gold diamond on bottom. Closely spaced checkering at grip and forend is flanked by relief carved scrolling acanthus with stipple shaded background. Sling studs are in forend and on toe line. Weight: 8 lbs. 3 oz. LOP: 13-3/4". Black and gold Browning box has correct end label. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, possibly unfired since proof, with only a few light handling marks on stock. Gold on trigger has light scratches. Checkering and carving still light in color. Mechanically crisp. Box with chips and rubs, areas of lightening have been darkened.
