VERY FINE BROWNING EXHIBITION GRADE TRAP SUPERPOSED WITH TWO COLOR FLUSH AND RELIEF GOLD INLAY BY G. VANDERSMISSEN.BROWNINGOU EXHIBITION71196S712 GAMODERN; IVORYCal. 12 ga. 2-3/4” Chambers. This very fine Browning is embellished by one of Belgium''s best engravers. It has 32" bbls, marked for Imod and full, which are gold inlaid with "Browning Arms Co" on left, and "12 GA - SHELLS 2-3/4" - MADE IN BELGIUM - BROWNING PATENT" on right. Bbls have "broadway" trap, ventilated rib with white synthetic Bradley front sight, and "certifiable pre-ban ivory" mid bead. Blued standard Browning OU action with gold-plated sgl selective trigger, is masterfully flush inlaid with gold and yellow gold scrolled ribbons outlining unusual gold inlaid portraits of retriever retrieving game, superimposed on flush inlaid gold line shield devices; gold dog retrieves a yellow gold pheasant on left, and another with duck on right. Bottom of action portrays a relief gold duck flying over flush yellow gold mountains in gold line arched background. More two color gold ribbons are on trigger guard bow. This unique inlay is signed "Vandersmissen G" on bottom rear portions of both sides. Nicely flame figured claro walnut short tang flat knob buttstock measures 14-3/8” over Browning open sided white line pad. Checkering has relief carved acanthus finials and wraps over top of grip. Matching forend is of 1-pc flared beavertail type. Bore diameter: top -.724, bottom -.725. Bore restrictions: top: .036 (full), bottom: .022 (mod). Drop at heel: 1-1/2", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz. LOP: 14-3/8". PROVENANCE: The Collection of Robert Burg. CONDITION: Excellent, showing limited use, with some sharp edge wear on blued parts, and a few light handling marks on gloss finish of wood, checkering slightly darkened.
