FABRIQUE NATIONALE EXHIBITION TYPE BSS WITH SIDEPLATES, ENGRAVED BY J. DIET AND ANGELO BEE.FNSXS158RR0128F12 GaMODERNCal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 28" Chopper lump bbls fitted with slightly raised, matted rib are inlaid in gold "FABRIQUE NATIONALE - HERSTAL - BELGIUM" on left bbl, and "SPECIAL STEEL 12 GA. SHELLS - 2-3/4"" on right. There are 3" triangles of open shaded scroll and inlaid gold lines at breech ends. Coin finished sideplated boxlock action features automatic safety, bushed strikers, and double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage open, scrolling acanthus, with inlaid gold line accents surrounding game scenes, subjects of which are relief gold inlaid. On left lockplate, a large group of mallards settle into marsh already populated with large and smaller other ducks. Front left of action portrays a flaring mallard. Right lockplate depicts a large group of mallards preparing to settle into marsh, with a flushing mallard at front. Bottom of action has another mallard landing in swamp surrounded by gold inlaid scroll under gold inlaid Browning trademark. This unusual engraving with many gold inlays, is signed "A. Bee" and "J.Diet" under left lockplate scene and only "J. Diet" on right. Nicely marbled European walnut swan-necked buttstock measures 14-3/4" over checkered wood butt. Fluted drop points are behind lockplates, and point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching beavertail ejector forend has Deeley type release. Bore diameter: left -.725, right -.725. Bore restrictions: left -.041 (full), right -.016 (mod). Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Weight: 7 lbs 3 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". Gun is housed in brown leather case with leather corners, lined in green felt. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Robert Burg. CONDITION: Excellent, essentially as new, with little evidence of firing since proof, and only a few light handling and assembly marks in wood and metal. Mechanically crisp.
