GOLD INLAID ABESSER & MERKEL SIDEPLATED BLITZ ACTION OVER-UNDER MILLER SINGLE TRIGGER HEAVY GAME GUN WITH CASE. MERKEL BLITZ ACTION OVER-UNDER 22015 12 GA. MODERN Cal. 12 ga. 32-3/4" Bohler steel demi-bloc bbls are fitted with raised, matted, ventilated rib. Top left of bbl is engraved with steel information and stamped with proofs. Breech section is engraved with well cut medium scroll. Case hardened sideplated Blitz action features single Kersten bolt, non-automatic safety, and Miller single selective trigger. Top fence is well filed and engraved with relief oak leaves. Remainder of action has about 80% coverage well cut scroll with oak leaf highlights. This engraving on lockplates surrounds game scenes enhanced with gold inlay; a gold inlaid pheasant stands in foreground with engraved wooded background and two other pheasants, one standing behind the principal, and another flying overhead on the left. On the right lockplate a spaniel retrieves a gold inlaid duck while three others fly away over a marsh. Bottom of action is engraved with makers name, "SUHL" and "GERMANY". A Miller trigger with selector at fore part has been installed, and trigger plate has been stamped "O" and "U". Blued top lever and trigger guard are also scroll engraved. Well streaked and nicely fiddle figured flesh-toned European walnut sunburst horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over brown open sided white line pad. Stock features skip-line point pattern checkering, white line under grip cap, white inlet lozenge drop points, and a vacant German silver oval on toe line. Large matching 3-pc forend has inset ebony tip and Deeley release. Bore diameter: top -.718, bottom -.717. Bore restrictions: top -.017 (lt mod), bottom -.034 (full). Wall thickness: top -.032, bottom -.030. Drop at heel: 1-7/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 9 lbs 0 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". Fine quality oak and brown leather case has brass corners, and is lined in scarlet cloth. Case contains pair of snap caps, square oil bottle, and case straps. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain nearly all of an old re-black. Action retains a considerable amount, perhaps as much as half of its orig case hardening color, that is quite gummed with oil or lacquer. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their orig finish with added oil or lacquer, which has crazed overall. Checkering is slightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Trigger works.
