EARLY FAMARS SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE.FAMARSVENERI SXS2919812 GAMODERN(1973) Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. 27-5/8" Dovetailed bbls with slightly raised, concave game rib, are engraved "Armi Famars" on top of left bbl. Bbl flats are stamped with 1973 Italian nitro proofs, SN, and "FAMARS". Coin finished full sidelock action features automatic safety, bushed strikers, and double triggers (front articulated). Lockplates are slightly rounded in Boss style. Top lever is pierced. Action is engraved with 90% coverage medium scroll with floral and foliate highlights. Engravers signature is on trigger plate. Top lever and trigger guard with matching engraving are blued. Flesh-toned, dark streaked and light stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over checkered wood butt, and features point pattern checkering at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.727. Bore restrictions: left -.039 (extra full), right -.020 (mod). Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-5/16". Weight: 6 lbs 13 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Tan, trapezoidal, VC type leather case is lined in purple cloth, and has gold embossed Famars label in lid. PROVENANCE: Letter from Famars USA with info regarding this gun, and stating that the current replacement cost for a "Venere" sidelock is approx $75,000.00. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with a number of light marks and scratches on bbls, mostly at breech ends. Coin finish is generally excellent, bright on beads, with some oil darkening. Stocks are excellent with a few minor light pings. Bores are excellent. Mechanically crisp. Case leather is excellent with some very light scuffs. Handle is excellent.
