RENATO GAMBA SL GRADE 1 WITH FINE ENGRAVING AND GOLD INLAY BY PATELLI WITH CASE. GAMBA OU SL GR 1 25801 12 GA MODERN Cal. 12 ga. This fine target gun with 30" mono-bloc bbls, with raised, matted ventilated rib, ventilated side ribs, and fixed chokes, is marked with Gamba's name and address as well as importer, on top bbl. Coin finished, low profile, OU action with removable trigger group, features non-automatic safety and single selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage of exceptionally well cut, semi-relief, scrolling acanthus with floral highlights. Sideplates and front portion of action are well engraved with scenes of birds and dogs, all subjects of which are flush gold inlaid and finely detailed; a quattro of mallards settle into marsh on left lockplate, with small scene of ducks swimming in marsh on front portion. Left plate depicts a covey of quail taking wing from hedgerow, a trio of quail depart on front scene. Bottom of action portrays a proud Brittany spaniel retrieving fallen woodcock. Makers name and address is on each side and gold inlaid in forend iron mortise. Top lever with more scroll is gold inlaid with flushing quail. Trigger guard bow portrays an alert grouse (?). Engravers signature "Patelli W" is at bottom right of dog scene. Beautifully marbled and figured European walnut extreme pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over 1/2" thick checkered wood buttplate, and features point pattern checkering and right hand palm swell. Matching sporting clays type schnabeled forend has Deeley type release, with gold inlaid goose head at tip. Bore diameter: top -.724, bottom -.725. Bore restrictions: top -.000 (cyl), bottom -.000 (cyl). Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 8 lbs 3 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". Black ABS case with three combination locks is marked "Renato Gamba Team". Case is lined in red cloth. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, appears essentially unfired since proof. There is some staining around muzzles, and some light browning to coin finish in background of scenes. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent. 49124-11 MGM425 (12,000-19,000)
