Bottom metal has hinged floorplate with release button in trigger guard bow, and has had a filler piece fitted to extend capacity for this large bodied cartridge. Action is very finely engraved with relief carved game animals in nicely detailed backgrounds. Scenes are framed by well cut Germanic scrolling acanthus. A growling grizzly bear with large trees in background and rocks in foreground is on receiver ring. Floorplate depicts woodland scene of two bull moose with cow in background. A finely rendered pronghorn is on trigger guard bow. Engravers signature "R Sch" (?) is on base of boulder on receiver ring scene. Nicely marbled European walnut steel trap capped pistol grip stock measures 13-3/4" over black "Old English" pad. Stock features large shadow line right hand cheekpiece, horn forend tip, and finely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders at grip and forend. An interesting small diameter extended eye relief type scope is in soldered-on claw rings. Drop at heel: approx 2-9/16", drop at comb: approx 1-3/4". Weight: 11 lbs 0 oz. LOP: 13-3/4”. Accompanied by a set of C-H Dies, qty of brass & Woodleigh bullets, and 20 handloaded rounds. PROVENANCE: Previous owners notes. CONDITION: Excellent, showing little use. Bbl retains nearly all of its fine satin blue. Action and bottom metal retain over 90% of their orig case hardening color, silvered on high points and sharp edges. Bolt retains 85% of its color, loss due to normal operating wear, and with knob silvered. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their orig oil finish, with a number of light marks and scratches, checkering lightly worn. Bore is excellent, bright, sharp, and shiny throughout. Scope retains most of its orig blue, but it appears that a lens is missing, so it is not usable. A scarce 1920''s era dangerous game rifle by this noted and highly regarded gun maker. 49183-30 MGM21 (5,000-8,000)
