EDWARD KETTNER BOXLOCK DOUBLE RIFLE DRILLING. EDWARD KETTNER BOXLOCK DOUBLE RIFLE DRILLING 12428 CAL 9 x 57R x 9 x 57R x 16 ga. MODERN Cal. 9 x 57R x 9 x 57R x 16 ga. 2-1/2" Chamber. 25" Bbls with full length matted rib fitted with claw bases, one standing, one folding leaf rear, and silver bead front sights are engraved "E. D. KETTNER" and "COLN - SUHL". Bbl flats are stamped with post 1912 German nitro proofs for 9 x 57. Bottom of shotgun bbl is also proofed and stamped with SN. A sling loop is soldered to bottom bbl. Robust, double ogee-backed, case hardened, boxlock action features Greener type side safety and rifle/ shotgun selector on tang. "S" "K" and "S" are gold inlaid. Action also features hidden crossbolt third fastener through dolls head extension, side clips, reinforcing bolsters, and double triggers (both set). Action is engraved with 60% coverage rose bouquets and scroll. Trigger guard is of horn. Nicely marbled European walnut steel capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over orig horn ribbed buttplate. Stock features classic shadow line right hand cheekpiece, attenuated drop points, closely spaced point pattern checkering with line borders at grip, and a sling loop, matching that on bbl, on toe line. Matching splinter type forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: bottom -.672. Bore restrictions: bottom -.008 (IC). Wall thickness: bottom -.032. Drop at heel: approx 3", drop at comb: approx 1-7/8". Weight: 8 lbs 1 oz. LOP: 14-1/4”. CONDITION: Excellent, as mostly refinished. Bbls retain nearly all of a satin re-blue with some light subsequent spotting. Action retains nearly all of a re-color hardening, engraving slightly softened. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their orig finish with some added oil, and light to moderate handling marks, checkering slightly worn, forend checkering more so. Bores are very good with strong rifling throughout, dark and lightly pitted in grooves. Shotgun bore is excellent. Action is tight. Rear trigger will not set.
