SCARCE WESTLEY RICHARDS BOXLOCK SINGLE BARREL TRAP.WESTLEY RICHARDSSBTT936812 GAMODERN; IVORY(1928) Cal. 12 ga. 34" Bbl fitted with slightly raised, matted, ventilated rib is engraved "Westley Richards & Co. London." on top of bbl at left side of rib. There are triangles of large scroll engraving at breech end, and left ejector reinforce is engraved "Paul H. Watkin". Case hardened boxlock action features pivoting third fastener engaging dolls head extension. Trigger is checkered. Breech area is nicely filed and action is engraved with 80% coverage large shaded scroll. "Westley Richards & Co" is in scrolled riband on each side. Trigger guard bow is scroll engraved. SN is on tang which extends to engraved silver grip cap. Lightly marbled and figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-7/8" over 1-1/2" Silver type pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip, and a vacant silver oval on toe line. Matching long beavertail type forend fits into dual loops for added strength, and has Deeley release engaging front loop. Bore diameter: .734. Bore restrictions: .044 (extra full). Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-9/16". Weight: 8 lbs 5 oz. LOP: 14-7/8". CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains nearly all of what appears to be its orig blue, but is most likely an old re-blue, done before name was put on left side. Action retains 40 - 50% orig case hardening color, the balance silver gray. Stocks retain most of what appears to be an old oil refinish with numerous marks and scratches, checkering re-cut. Pad is new. Bore is fine with numerous striations. Action is tight. Extractor appears to be repaired and replaced. Extractor function but ejector will not trip. Mid bead is "certifiable pre-ban ivory". 49535-1 MGM369 (2,000-4,000)
