DAVID MCKAY BROWN ROUND ACTION OVER-UNDER GAME GUN WITH CASE, ACCESSORIES, AND BOOK.DAVID MCKAY BROWNOVER UNDER752412 GA.MODERNCal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. This fine gun by this highly regarded Scottish maker, who has been keeping the Dickson round action tradition alive, has 28" demi-bloc bbls mounted with narrow, flat, matted rib. Right side of top bbl is engraved "David McKay Brown (Gunmakers), 32, Hamilton Road, Bothwell". Bottom of bottom bbl is stamped with 1993 London nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers, and with SN. Case hardened, round bodied, trigger plate, low profile, OU action features automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), and double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage very well cut, medium, open shaded scroll. "David McKay Brown" is in scrolled riband on each side. Top lever, forend iron, and trigger guard are engraved to match action. SN is at grip. Attractive, classic marbled and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over checkered wood butt, and features diamond hand, point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip, and gold oval engraved "LBL" on toe line. Slim matching forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: top -.735, bottom -.734. Bore restrictions: top -.006 (IC), bottom -.005 (IC). Wall thickness: top -.025, bottom -.025. Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-3/8". Weight: 6 lbs 11 oz. LOP: 14-1/4". Exceptional quality walnut and black morocco leather case with embossed gold line embellishment on top, has two key locks. Interior is lined in scarlet leather with embossed gold filigree decoration around border of lid. Leather is also embossed with McKay Brown name and address, "ROUND ACTION GAME GUN", and "Serial No. 7524". Bottom, also in red leather is french fitted for stock and action, bbls, and an array of high quality accessories including: 2-pc ebony and brass cleaning rod, horn handled chamber brush, 3 horn-handled turnscrews, pair of horn and brass snap caps, round polished brass oil bottle, round polished brass vaseline bottle, and two keys. Also included is book, DAVID MCKAY BROWN; SCOTLAND''S GUN AND RIFLE MANUFACTURER by Donald Dallas. PROVENANCE: Various articles on McKay Brown Gunmakers, and consignors notes on this gun including information that bbl maker was Jim McDonald, and that this gun is listed by number in the McKay Brown book, internals are gold plated, and case was made by Arno Werner, book binders to Harvard University. CONDITION: Excellent, showing limited field use. Bbls retain over 95% orig blue, slightly silvered at muzzles and sharp edges. Action retains approx 95% of its orig case hardening color, silvered on sharp edges and at rear of top tang. Temper blue of safety is silvered, as is top lever thumbpiece. Bluing on trigger guard is thinning and silvering at grip. Stocks retain a few light handling marks in their orig hand rubbed oil finish, checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Exterior case leather is excellent with a few slight rubs and compressions. Handle is excellent. Interior leather is excellent with some slight rubs. Accessories are excellent. Book is new, still in its shrink wrap. 49183-7 MGM126 (35,000-55,000)
