England." Bbl flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-1/2" Chambers. SNs are engraved on bottoms of bbls. Classic coin finished lightweight round action with one piece cocking compressor/ ejector kickers (not described in Dallas'' new book on Dickson) features non-automatic safety (SAFE gold inlaid), pin type cocking indicators, and pivoting third fastener engaging bbl rib extension. There is a fine cock bead on fences, as found on early Dickson guns. Water table is stamped with SN and "J.D & S" patent use number "293". Blued and scroll engraved trigger guard with small horn finger guard inset behind bow, has SN on tang. Nicely streaked and figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over 3/8" ribbed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip, and a gold oval is on toe line. Matching splinter forend (with new wood) is nearly fully checkered, and has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.725, right -.725. Bore restrictions: left -.020 (Lt mod), right -.005 (IC). Wall thickness: left -.30, right -.028. Drop at heel: 2-5/16", drop at comb: 1-3/8". CONDITION: Fine, as refurbished. Well made new bbls retain essentially all of their fine black. Action has been coin finished, engraving remains very clear. Refinished buttstock with wood slightly below metal retains most of a fine oil finish. There are some small wood replacements behind top tang. Checkering nicely re-cut. New forend wood is excellent. Top lever and trigger guard re-blued, and retain nearly all of that blue. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Safety slide is sticky from lack of use. Case leather is very fine, some corners have peeled off. Interior cloth shows some marks and stains. Accessories are excellent. A neat old shootable Dickson. 1098-1 mgm4 (6,000-8,000)
